A Helping Hand at Christmas

Christmas is a time of year we love to come together, settle in with a mulled wine and exchange cards and gifts. However, it is also a time where our thoughts turn to those for where life is not so easy. That’s why this year, instead of sending you a Christmas card, we have decided to support The Esther Project run by local charity Helping Hands.

The Esther Project has been developed to empower vulnerable women – this could be domestic violence, mental health or addictions. The support provided enables the opportunity to get together, build friendships and learn. This ranges from life skills such as cooking on a budget to fun sessions like arts and crafts. During December, The Esther Project will be taking a group of women out for Christmas lunch, and we will not only be supporting them with a donation, we are also looking forward joining them for the meal and spending time with these courageous women.

Would you like to support Helping Hands? In addition to The Esther Project, Helping Hands give everybody (not only women) support and opportunities to feel better about themselves, be more active in the community and get back into work. They run a Gateway Café and Soup Kitchen offering hot food and a listening ear. They like to give a hand up not just a handout through new skills, experience and qualifications. The volunteers for their House 2 Home project support recently re-homed low-income families with goods from fridges to furniture.
