Mark Elvins, Financial Controller, explains how Pentlands has supported with the transition through their start-up and fast growth phase.
“When the company was established, Pentlands were chosen as the company accountants following a referral from one of their existing clients. They have supported the transition through start-up from registering the company for VAT and processing the returns, to bookkeeping and monthly management accounts. However, due to the fast growth of the business, the need quickly arose to bring the day-to-day financial management requirements in-house.
This is a role where I have independent responsibility for the financial management. Previously, I have had colleagues who I have been able to approach for support, so for me, having Pentlands in place is helpful, especially in the first few months. They have been supportive of the transition, breaking it down into manageable sections to enable me to find my feet.
Pentlands were instrumental in setting up and maintaining Xero and DEXT. They have created strong foundations for me to build on by establishing the bookkeeping rules, enabling us to create accurate monthly management accounts.
Pentlands continue to support us with our annual accounts and tax return, along with signposting us to look into R&D tax credits, supporting our VGTR claim and enabling us to set up a PAYE settlement agreement. I work closely with them meaning we are all on the same page and getting what we need from the systems to ensure accurate financial management and reporting.
It’s the little things that matter the most for me, it gives me confidence knowing that I can reach-out to them with any questions and they will come back to me. I feel as though I am able to approach them as part of the team.”
